In the hotel zone in Cancún you will find El Galeón de Caribe. The Caribbean Galleon. No wonder the first time we had tried to go there, we confused it for an excursion advertisement. Luckily we were able to ask the hotel concierge “do you know where pescadillas is?” And they laughed and said,

That means fish taco... and you can find them right across the street!

The menu

At El Galeón de Caribe, they make the most delicious pescadillas in their open kitchen. The fish tacos are served with a super spicy habanero salsa, fresh lime, and salt. Everyone seems to order them by the dozen. They’re a big hit.

We don’t stray far from the pescadillas, because I’m not a die hard seafood fan, but the rest of their menu looks amazing as well.

The location

Situated just a few minutes walking from the GR Caribe by Solaris is El Galeón de Caribe.  A short walk or bus ride from almost all of the resorts in the hotel zone. A great place to have a quick lunch after the beach or between excursions.

You enter the small yet magical restaurant via a long staircase through the bush, down to the beach, and seat yourself in the raw atmosphere. Sand floor and palapa roof. Amazing. Surrounded by the jungle. The service is superb. You’ll see them frying the pescadillas while you’re enjoying a cerveza. The restaurant is busy with locals coming in to enjoy. A mariachi might even treat you to a serenade!

Just make sure you keep an eye out for crocs!

Check out their Facebook page.
